They called him Baldrek Stonevein once—a stubborn, broad-shouldered dwarf with a hammer that echoed like thunder and a laugh that could warm a tavern. He was chosen to lead a deep-earth expedition into the Murktooth Hollows, chasing whispers of lost runes and glimmering veins of mithgar. But what he found wasn’t treasure—it was a trap, laid by goblins. They sealed the cavern behind him, laughing as he and his crew were swallowed by a dense, sickly fog that reeked of rot and ruin. One by one, the others died, coughing blood, their skin blistering like meat in a fire. But Baldrek didn’t die. No, the gas changed him—warped him.
